How do custom orthotics work?
Ultimately, custom foot orthotics help your feet to function as a strong foundation to your entire body. They may do this by assisting joints that are too unstable or accommodating bony deformities or areas of high pressure. This realignment needs to be carefully and precisely done by a Certified Canadian Pedorthist or a foot care professional with a strong background in human biomechanics to ensure the changes improve instead of worsen your posture and gait pattern.
How do we create your custom foot orthotics?
Your custom foot orthotics are created based on the 3 dimensional shape of your feet. After a thorough assessment, your Pedorthist will carefully capture a 3D cast of your feet. This cast is 3D scanned and imported into our in-house custom foot orthotic design software where we design your orthotics directly on top of your 3D foot model. This 3D digital model is then sent to our milling department to be created into a workable mold. Orthopaedic grade plastics and foams are then formed on top of this mold to form a functional and comfortable orthotic that properly supports your feet and ultimately improves your foot's function as the foundation of your entire body.
